This is very exciting to see on one hand. A brand the size and global reach of McDonald’s getting in to NFTs. That’s a pretty big deal right? Well, yes.
However, given they currently serve 3.5m customers daily in the UK alone and 45,000 have retweeted the competition tweet on the day of announcement, where only 10 accounts will win, there's going to be a lot of disappointed people.
Talk about scarcity aswell! Only 10 NFTs! The one good thing we can hope to see is the demand to enter the competition takes them completely by surprise and look to take it more seriously off the back of the demand.
It's clearly a low cost way to get the early adopter crowd to retweet a McDonald's tweet but unfortunately it's not much more than that at this stage (other than for 10 lucky winners!).
Until then, this is nothing more than a magpie move jumping on what’s hot of the moment and putting out some PR to piggy back on the trend. Let’s hope we’re proven entirely wrong in time.
